You've recently relocated back to Cape Town. What were the reasons for looking at aluminium shutters for your home?

Yes, we have been living out of Cape Town for a few years now, and recently returned. This resulted in us doing some renovations at home. My wife and I really love the look of the shutters. Due to work commitments, I am away so often and the safety of my family is my number one concern.

What did the installation in your home entail - i.e. What openings were fitted with Blockhouse Shutters?

We have an outside braai area that is under the patio roof but was not completely enclosed. With Cape Town winter around the corner and a busy toddler running around, we wanted to utilize and maximise all the space we have. We can now lock the shutters which adds a massive extension to the house. 

What were your expectations vs. reality with regards to the installation/shutters?

It's everything and more. We have made use of them non-stop. I especially love that the shutters are able to open up on a simple track system fully on warm sunny days. Alternatively we are able to open only the top half or bottom half - depending on what we feel like on the day.

What were your colour requirements?

I love that the shutters are available in five colours. However, white perfectly suits the style of our house and was an easy decision for us.

Are there any other areas/openings in your home that you would like shutters installed in? If so, could you elaborate?

Most certainly. We would like to install shutters as a seperation between the indoor playroom and TV lounge. It would be useful to close up and hide a mess when we have visitors. For this we would consider the Blockhouse Lite option - as we wouldn't require a full security shutter inside the house. 

What are the benefits of the shutters for you, and what do you enjoy most about them?

They certainly look great! We receive compliments every time people come around. We enjoy entertaining at home. The shutters ensure that our guests are either kept warm on chilly days, or that we can still open them up fully by means of a simple stacking system. They have not made the patio feel small at all, they have actually made the patio and outside area feel bigger! 

What was your overall experience like - were you satisfied with the level of service you received?

Yes indeed. The entire process was completely seamless and an absolute pleasure to deal with all those involved.
